The “Hangar 21” is a former helicopter hangar of the British army which was modified in year 2000 to a regional Expo project with financial support of the country NRW to an art hang-glider museum.
Today the culture team of Detmold uses the hall as production place for international street theatre productions. In connection with the two years European street theatre, the hangar 21 is available for developing further a new hybrid art form innovative in a division general, interdisciplinary interplay of different art forms. The premises of the hangars provide a unique opportunity, large format productions regardless of the weather in a shed (main hall with approximately 3000 m² plus ancillary areas and exterior surfaces) to develop artistically and rehearse.
By the settlement of several partner institutions (for example medium production through the culture and art initiative e.V.) under one roof you can directly cooperate.
Three street theatre groups will work out performances of a different format and show her premieres on the festival prior to the festival 2012.
